Meet Anvita Bhatt!
medicine MentorCurrent Role / School
First year medical student at the University of Texas Medical Branch
Journey
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Neuroscience.
Their Path
Something unique about my journey to medicine was taking the MCAT twice, which taught me that the path to medical school doesn't always look the way you expect it to, and that facing setbacks doesn’t mean you're not making progress. I also went straight from undergrad to medical school and learned a lot about navigating the application process while balancing my undergraduate degree. Overall, my journey has taught me that the path to medicine isn’t linear, and it's important to trust yourself and find what works best for you!
Admissions Experience
During my medical school application process, I received 4 interview invites and matched to my top medical school choice through the Texas match system.

Meet Sid Kundal!
medicine MentorCurrent Role / School
Addiction Medicine Fellow at CDU/UCLA
Journey
I graduated from Wayne State University with a B.S. in Biomedical Physics and an M.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University. I completed family medicine residency at Georgetown University.
Their Path
I built a community-rooted foundation by involving myself in service across diverse fields serving underserved communities—from working as a teacher in Detroit during my gap year to partnering with Street Health DC to care for patients experiencing homelessness. By translating these varied experiences in public engagement, advocacy, and social-emotional support directly into his clinical practice, I learned how to connect with vulnerable populations and become a more compassionate, well-rounded physician.
Admissions Experience
Along the way to medical school, I received 3 interviews and 3 acceptances.

Meet Maaz S. Imam!
medicine MentorCurrent Role / School
Third year medical student at Carle Illinois College of Medicine
Journey
I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Community Health and earned an M.S. in Precision Health from the University of Chicago.
Their Path
I took a nontraditional route to medicine, working in healthcare venture capital after my master’s and before starting medical school. The hardest part of applying was showing admissions committees that public health, data, and investing all pointed me toward medicine. It was also hard to find a school built for that intersection, which I found in Carle Illinois’s engineering- and innovation-focused curriculum.
Admissions Experience
I received 9 interview invites. I attended 5 interviews and earned 4 acceptances. After receiving early acceptances, I declined the remaining 4 invites and chose to attend my top choice.
Dentistry Mentors

Meet Kiran Gill!
dentistry MentorCurrent Role / School
Second year dental student at WesternU College of Dental Medicine
Journey
I graduated from University of California, Irvine with a degree in Psychological Science.
Their Path
I graduated from high school early with the goal of accelerating my path to dental school, but an unexpected setback led me to take a fifth year to complete my bachelor’s degree. Rather than letting the detour define my journey, I stayed focused on my goal and began dental school just two weeks after graduating from UC Irvine.
Admissions Experience
I focused on dental programs on the west coast and along the way, I received 2 interviews and 2 acceptances.

Meet Kiana Sedigh!
dentistry MentorCurrent Role / School
Second year dental student at WesternU College of Dental Medicine
Journey
I graduated from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) earning a Bachelors of Science in Business Psychology and a Pre-dental emphasis on Human Biology.
Their Path
I graduated UCSD in just three years, having already completed my dental school prerequisites, taken the DAT, and applied to dental school. During my first application cycle, I received acceptances from East Coast schools but not from the California schools I had hoped to attend. I decided to take a gap year and reapply, which ultimately led me to WesternU.
Admissions Experience
In my first application cycle I received 4 acceptances. In my second application cycle, I received 9 interviews and 8 acceptances.
