In Your Shoes

About Us

We Created the Mentorship We Wish We Had.

Medicine
Dentistry
Law

If there’s one thing we’ve learned on our way to medicine, dentistry, and law, it’s that there is no single way to get into these professional schools. We know because our own paths looked different.

Some of us knew exactly what we wanted. Others changed direction. Some followed traditional timelines. Others didn’t. And looking back, we realized that the things that made our paths different were often the same things that made our stories and applications stronger.

That realization became the foundation for In Your Shoes.

When we were navigating the process ourselves, there was never a shortage of information about how to get in. We could find prerequisite lists. Application timelines. Sample resumes. Admissions statistics. Checklists telling us what a “competitive” applicant was supposed to look like.

We also had access to counselors, advisors, and admissions guidance. But too often, the advice felt built around a formula — a path that had worked before and was being applied to everyone who came after.

We were being shaped to fit the roadmap, instead of having a roadmap shaped around us.

And sometimes, the people advising us had gone through the process years before. We wanted guidance from someone close enough to the journey to remember it clearly — and recent enough to understand what it looks like today.

The process changes. The expectations change. And the questions students are asking along the way change too.

What we wanted was someone who understood our goals, circumstances, strengths and experiences — and could simply say:

“Knowing what I know about you, here’s what I would do.”

Someone who could help us recognize the value in our own experiences, make intentional decisions about what came next, and eventually tell a story that felt genuinely ours.

That is the kind of mentorship we wanted.

That’s why our mentors are currently navigating medicine, dentistry, and law — or have recently gone through the process themselves.

We remember the uncertainty. The second-guessing. The setbacks. The late-night searches. The feeling that everyone else somehow knew what they were doing. And the question we kept coming back to:

“Am I doing enough?”

We know how different those moments can feel when you have someone just a few steps ahead in your corner.

Our mentorship starts with you — your background, your experiences, your goals, and your story. Because your journey to professional school doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.

It just needs to be yours.

We’ve been in your shoes. Now we’re here to walk beside you.
